Vertical Development Consulting
Every engagement starts with a conversation
One kind is for a leader thinking about coaching for themselves. The other is for an organisation working out what it needs. Both run forty-five minutes and cost nothing, and neither commits you to anything afterwards.
For a senior leader
Coaching for yourself, or for a role you are about to step into. A chemistry conversation to work out whether this is the right kind of help.
Book a coaching conversationFor an organisation
For an HR or L&D lead, or a leader buying development for their own team. A scoping conversation about what you need and what it would take.

The coaching conversation
People usually get in touch when something like this is going on.
- A promotion is coming and the step up looks bigger than the last one.
- The role got bigger and the habits that earned it have stopped working.
- There is a senior stakeholder you cannot move, or a working relationship that has gone wrong.
- Most of the week goes on other people's problems and not much of it on leading.
I'll listen to what's happening at work and ask questions until I understand it. If it looks useful I'll explain how we might work together. You don't need a clear coaching goal to book, and nothing obliges you to continue afterwards.
If the calendar doesn't load, open it in a new tab.
For an organisation
The scoping conversation
For an HR director, an L&D lead, or a leader buying development for their own team. Forty-five minutes on what's happening, who it involves, and what would need to be different.
Useful to have roughly in mind: how many people, what's already been tried, when you'd want to start, and whether a budget exists yet. None of it is required. A rough answer now beats a precise one in three weeks.
Afterwards you get a one-page outline with scope, dates, price and what's excluded, inside a day, written so you can forward it to whoever signs.
Email is the quickest route for an organisational enquiry right now. Send a few lines and you'll get a time back the same day.
A separate booking link for organisational scoping calls is being set up. Until it exists, organisational enquiries come through email rather than the coaching calendar, so the two kinds of conversation stay apart.
Before you book
How I work with clients
What you tell me stays confidential, apart from the limits the law and safety require. You decide what we work on, and your goals come before mine.
Before we start I'll be clear about fees and how many sessions are likely. I won't promise outcomes. If coaching isn't the right fit for what you're facing, I'll say so on the call and suggest someone who is.
The code of conduct I work to
Ashridge, part of Hult, publishes a code of conduct for coaches that sets out what a client should be able to expect. It covers contracting, confidentiality, competence and the limits of the work.
Who you'll be talking to
Rudi Doku
I'm an executive coach based in Melbourne, working with senior leaders online and in person, across Australia and internationally. I've coached leaders at organisations including Google and BHP. Before coaching I spent about fifteen years as a technology consultant in the Netherlands, Singapore and Australia, so the pressures senior people work under don't need explaining to me first.

Still deciding
Not sure which conversation you need
Send a few lines about the situation and you'll get a straight answer about whether this is the right kind of help, and a pointer somewhere better if it isn't.
