Privacy policy

This policy explains what personal information Vertical Development Consulting collects through this website, how we use and store it, who we share it with, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Information we do and do not collect

We do not collect identifiable information about you if you only browse our website.

We do not collect sensitive or special categories of identifiable information relating to racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, or trade union membership, and the processing of genetic data, biometric data for the purpose of uniquely identifying a natural person, data concerning health or data concerning a natural person's sex life or sexual orientation.

We do not collect your personal information on this site unless you choose to give it to us. There is no form on this site that collects it. If you email us, call us, or book a call using the links here, we hold what you choose to send us, which is usually your name, your email address and whatever you tell us about your enquiry.

We are required by law to retain certain pieces of personal information you provide us with for a minimum of 7 years. This relates primarily to financial records. Other information we collect we will only retain for the amount of time that is required for us to use the information for the purposes stated below.

Use and disclosure

We will primarily use personal information that you provide to us through this site for the purposes for which you supplied it or, in exceptional situations, for other reasons permitted under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), the Australian Privacy Principles, and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR). When we collect your personal information we do so with the appropriate technical and organisational measures in place to protect your personal information for the duration we use and store it.

The law may require us to disclose the information, for instance to investigate a criminal offence, or there may be safety reasons for disclosing the information.

Third party suppliers and providers

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use this site. It tells us which pages get read, how long people stay on them, what sent them here, and what kind of device and browser they were on. We read it in aggregate, to work out which parts of the site are doing their job and which are not.

Google Analytics sets a cookie in your browser so it can tell a returning visit from a new one. Your IP address is used to estimate a general location, usually no more precise than a city. We do not use any of it to work out who you are, and we do not join it up with anything you have sent us directly.

The data is held by Google rather than by us, and is handled under Google's terms. You can read Google's privacy policy for what they do with it.

If you would rather not be counted, Google publishes a browser add-on that switches Google Analytics off on every site you visit. Your browser settings will also let you block or delete cookies.

Acuity Scheduling

Our booking link takes you to Acuity Scheduling, which is owned by Squarespace. If you book a call there, you give Acuity your name, your email address and anything else you type into the booking form, and Acuity records the time you chose.

We use that information to hold the appointment, to prepare for the conversation and to contact you about it. Acuity stores it on our behalf under Squarespace's terms, and you can read the Squarespace privacy policy for what they do with it.

Your rights and choices

Under the Privacy Act and GDPR you have certain entitlements relating to our collection, use and storage of your personal information.

We are happy to provide you with access to any personal information that we hold about you. If it is wrong, please ask us to correct it. If you no longer want your personal information to be held by us, please request for it to be deleted. There may be certain circumstances where you may ask for the processing of your data to be restricted. If this is required, you can contact us and we will confirm the options available to you and the personal information that is subject to the restriction.
